La Neurona was conceived in 1984 and opened in September 2001. The initial idea arose because students at the Medical Sciences Campus lacked a place where they could discuss their experiences, exams, and clinical cases while socializing and enjoying each other's company.

From the beginning, the purpose was to create a space where they could disconnect from daily stress, discuss their experiences, eat, dance, laugh, and even cry if necessary. A safe haven for meeting, support, and community.

La Neurona offers lunch, pizza, wings, tacos, cocktails, craft draft beers, and a variety of snacks in a welcoming atmosphere designed for sharing with friends. It welcomes all health-related students, as well as hospital staff, becoming a meeting point for those who dedicate their lives to caring for others.

Although I conceived the idea, it was Katherine Bermúdez who truly kept the concept alive. Manager, friend, and exceptional person, she deeply understood the students and their needs. She passed away in 2021 after battling lung cancer for several years. However, her spirit lives on in every conversation, every laugh, and every memory that resides within La Neurona.
